Instruments

The School of Music is happy to provide instruments through our hire and maintenance scheme. We would also encourage parents and students to consider buying their own instruments, where appropriate.  This can be done through the EA Assisted Instrument Purchase Scheme. Please contact the CBSM office for further information and the relevant document. This scheme effectively saves parents the cost of VAT through a government agreed policy with HM Customs & Excise.  Terms and conditions apply.  Advice is available from the Heads of Departments and the Acting Head of the City of Belfast School of Music - EA.

Instrument Repairs and Conditions relating to use of CBSM Instruments.

The Instrument technician maintains and repairs the Instruments that are on loan to the students attending CBSM or taught by the CBSM Peripatetic staff   who teach in the Primary and Secondary schools in Belfast .His aim is to get all repairs completed as quickly as possible in order that the students may continue with their daily practice.

We ask that students take care of the instruments on loan Instruments may look robust however they can be easily damaged.

If you have any queries or something goes wrong with the instrument on loan, either take the instrument to your tutor or take it to the School of Music for the attention of the technician.DO NOT attempt to repair the instrument or arrange for the repair of the instrument yourself. The Instrument technician will carry out all necessary repairs to instruments.

Please note that if damage of an instrument is not the result of normal wear and tear then a charge may be made.

Please note that instruments on loan, are for use by students that are taught by CBSM Peripatetic staff in the EA Primary and Secondary Schools, have lessons with our staff in CBSM Fortwilliam or attend CBSM Bands or Orchestras .The instruments must be returned when a student withdraws from having tuition with any of the above.
