| World Music is an innovative approach to whole class music teaching. All young people can learn traditional music, on traditional instruments, in a cultural context. Our staff teach in both primary and post primary schools within Belfast Education and Library Board and are experienced tutors in both traditional African drumming and Samba. Instruments Our World Music Department has a range of authentic instruments including practice and professional djembes; 3 full Samba kits; 2 sets of djuns; and various other instruments from around the world. Examinations World Music is an excellent vehicle for GCSE students to achieve at the highest levels in GCSE performance and ensemble skills. Tutors also cover much of the world music curriculum in their lessons. Workshops Every year the percussion department organises workshops held at the CBSM for students to get the opportunity to learn with the masters. Please check the CBSM website for details of up-coming workshops. |
