The School of Music presents a number of awards annually, some for individual attainment and others for personal endeavour. These cover all age groups and relate to practical subjects as well as to theory. Most of the awards are presented at the Annual Students Recital in June.
Stephen Parker Memorial Award Awarded to an outstanding member of The City of Belfast Youth Orchestra. McCarrison Trophy Awarded to the student who has demonstrated outstanding musicianship. Ruth and Leonard Pugh Award Awarded to the student who scores the highest aggregate mark in an Associated Board Grade 8 practical exam and the two most recent previous exams. Douglas Brown Award Awarded to the student who scores the highest aggregate mark in an Associated Board Grade 8 Theory exam and the two previous Theory exams. Hewitt Cup Awarded to the day school pupil who receives the highest mark in an Associated Board practical exam. Carmel McKinney Trophy Awarded to an outstanding member of the City of Belfast Youth Concert Band. Charles Gault Family Trophy Awarded to an outstanding student from the Brass Department. Jim Caves Memorial Cup Awarded to an outstanding student from the String Department. Ryan Baker Award Awarded to an outstanding student from the Woodwind Department. Fitzpatrick Family Trophy Awarded to an outstanding student from the Percussion Department. Bertram Jones Cup Awarded to the piano student who scores the highest marks in an Associated Board Grade 8 exam. Dr Edgar Boucher Trophy Awarded to an outstanding student from the Harp Department. Brian Agus Cup Awarded to an outstanding student from the Singing Department. The HE Smyth Cup Awarded to an outstanding pupil from the Junior Music Centre. Richard Laird Memorial Bursary The annual bursary is awarded to facilitate a voice masterclass or workshop. Parents Association Endeavour Awards These awards are presented to members of our Group Activities to encourage and reward musical endeavour. |
